General rules

  • Absolute integrity is expected by students and all those who use the Library. Any act of dishonesty such as tearing pages, hiding books, taking books without entry etc., will lead to strong disciplinary action.
  • Xeroxing the book or periodicals are not allowed (even general book while it is checked out). Proper permission has to be taken from the Library In-Charge/Dean of Library.
  • Silence must be maintained at all times in the library. Any discussion should be done outside the Library.
  • Reference books are not for check out. These books can be used only in the library.
  • Temporary Reserve (TR) Shelf books are kept as per the recommendation and requirement of a subject teacher. TR books can only be checked out for 2 hours at one stretch. If a book is not on demand then it may be renewed for additional two or more hours. But if someone is in need then it shall return to the library desk so that others can use.
  • While using Reference Book or TR book it must be entered in the register. Failing, will to lead to pay fine Rs. 10.
  • If a student wishes to avail the TR books beyond the library hours, he/she should reserve them by signing in a separate Register. The books are issued only who approaches first. The book which is checked out at 3:40 pm should return to the library at 8:00 pm on the same day. Checking out books
  • for overnight can be done between 9:40 and 10:00 pm. Overnight books shall be returned to the library counter by 8:30 am the next working day. Failing to return on scheduled time impose a fine of Rs. 5/- per hour, per book. One can take only one TR book at a time, per subject. However, if TR books are not on demand a maximum of three books can be issued.
  • Computers in the Library are used only for the academic purpose like checking the e-books or searching subject material on internet, so if a student wishes to avail this facility in the Library to check e-books, s/he should reserve them by signing in a separate Register.
  • Books for the weekend can be checked out on Saturday by 11:45 am. While returning the book, make sure that the Librarian/ Library Assistant/Student Library Assistant will make a signature on that.
  • General books from the stacks can be checked out or checked in between 9.30 am -1.00 pm and 2:00 to 4:00 pm. These books can be borrowed for a week and the due date can be seen at the last page. Rs. 5/- will be charged each day per book if it is not returned on time.
  • Students should not replace any books on the shelves. Books must be placed at the library desk/counter.
  • Students should follow the library study hours strictly (morning & night). If a student needs to be excused from the night library hours for a genuine reason, should obtain prior permission from the Dean of Students.
  • Those who have over due books are not eligible to check out books until they have cleared the dues.
  • The Librarian can recall any checked out books if there is an emergency.
  • Periodicals must be used in the library. Non-bound issues of a periodical must be re-shelved after use.
  • At the end of the academic year, each student should collect a “No Due” certificate from the Dean of Library and produce in the Principal’s office.
  • Laptops are allowed only to use in the library with proper permissions and at assigned Tables only. It is not allowed to use on common study tables. Internet in the Library is meant for Assignments and to search articles but not for any other purposes.
