Rules and Regulations

  • Academic Affairs

    This College is affiliated to the Senate of Serampore College, so in order to secure a B.D Degree, a student has to complete all courses and requirements expected by the Serampore University in order to receive Serampore Convocation

  • College Class Timings

    Monday to Friday 8:25 AM to 12:40 PM & 2:00 PM to 4:20 PM
    Saturday 9:00 to 12:00 Library hours

  • Assignment Submission

    Students are expected to attend classes regularly and Assignments are to be submitted on time. In fairness to students who submit their work on time, assignments submitted after the due date will be subjected to a reduction

    For Example an assignment evaluated as ‘B’ but submitted two days late will receive only a ‘B-’ grade; if submitted four days late, the grade would be only ‘C+’. No assignment will be accepted six days beyond the due date. Non submission of assignments will disqualify students for final exams or results.

  • I.D.Cards

    Student must have ID card. He/she can obtain by filling prescribed form and paying prescribed fee at beginning of every year.

  • Leave Obtaining

    Leaves can be obtained only on health grounds or on emergency by following the procedures. A Leave Application Form has to be filled. After getting the signatures of the subject teachers, warden, tutor, Dean of Students it should be recommended by the Registrar.

    If a student is sick person, his/her friend/CR can do these formalities on his/her behalf of. In case of absence for unavoidable reason, the students have to follow the same procedures of filling prescribed Leave form. Principal or the Person In-Charge is the only authority to grant leave.

    Unauthorized Absents

    Unauthorized Absents in a class may result in reduction of a grade (e.g. A- becomes B+) and coming late to the class three times is equal to one unexcused absence. In such cases memo will be issued.A person who is absent for 15 class lectures at a stretch may lead to drop one College examined subject even in the event of taking official permission. In any subject 15 leaves/ absent can result the same He or she needs to repeat the course at a later opportune time. If a student is absent for more than 15 days, the Administrative Committee will take an appropriate decision. However, this does not apply to the women on maternity leave.

  • Procedure on College Retake

    Incomplete class work disqualifies a student from writing final exam of that subject. One who fails in College exam can take a retake exam by paying prescribed fee of Rs. 300/- per subject.

    However, if one fails even in the retake exam, he/she has to repeat the entire course. If one fails in more than 2 subjects, he/she is not eligible for the M.B. Scholarship and these students have to study on their own expenses in that particular academic year. Such students are also not eligible for the top student leadership positions in the College.

  • Fine for Late Coming/ Absent

    After holidays, students must be back to the college in time as announced. No late coming is allowed. They are expected to arrive to the College campus a previous night or latest by 8.am on the next working day.

    If a student arrives late or absent without proper permission has to pay Rs. 500 as fine for the first day and then Rs. 100 for each absent days. No leave can be granted on phone. WhatsApp, e-mails, or any text messages will be treated only as the information.

  • Ragging

    Be it noted that ragging in any form is not permitted in the College. Ragging is punishable by the Law of the Land. Ragging in any form is a cognizable offence and severely punishable as per the Supreme Court directives leading to expulsion from the College. The Administration may report incidents of ragging to the police for taking appropriate action under the law.
